When writers say they have “writer’s block, what they’re usually saying is, “I’m afraid my writing is good enough.” It’s almost impossible to truly objective about your own writing. We are, for the most part, our own worst critic. If the greatest of writers let their fear stop them, we would miss out on some of our favorite reads.

Fear is a normal reaction to creative output. It makes us feel vulnerable. Critique is inevitable – sometimes ego boosting and sometimes it crushes us.

Here’s a quote by Dean Koontz the act of writing.

The best writing is borne of humility. The great stuff comes to like in those agonizing and exhilarating moments when writers become acutely aware of the limitations of their skill, for it is then that they strain the hardest to make use of the imperfect tools with which they must work.

Choose to move beyond the fear of imperfection and enjoy your craft!
