It has been said that wisdom speaks to us. And when it does, it resonates with something already true within us which we may or may not recognize.
The wisdom of the natural world surrounds us, providing a gift of open heartedness to those who take the time to notice. When we witness and experience this wisdom, we enter a receptive state in which our intuition can break through the mental chatter of our daily lives and lead us to some previously hidden insight, information or resolution.
This may be why many of us find refuge from our daily lives in retreats, even if that retreat is but an hour of walking in nature, sitting by the ocean, or engaging in a sport where senses take precedence over our rational mind. It is within this context that I look for inspiration when I feel an inner whisper, a sense that something is vying for my attention.
For most of my entrepreneurial career, I have worked with clients who engage in some creative act–a project or business or book– and who want that extra boost to take it further. Over the years, I have walked in those shoes, so I resonate with the process. I also know intimately the fears and doubts one experiences when pushing the edge of a comfort zone.
I believe that to get to the root of what keeps us from giving up fear or giving into it, the process starts from within.
When we operate from our inner wisdom, we avoid the struggle to climb to the top of a ladder only to discover that it is the wrong ladder. If we tune into our inner motivator, that aspect of our self that is always present, before we begin that climb, we are more likely to tap into our inherent gifts and choose the right ladder in the first place. Even if in the process we hit the wall of our fears and doubts, that original foundation of inspiration is more likely to be connected with again.
