Manuscript Critiques: I offer flat rates for a detailed chapter-by-chapter critique of manuscripts (no editing). If editing is involved, rates are based on page/word count. Turnaround time varies according to deadlines, complexity, and projects already underway prior to your submission.
Substantive Editing/Rewriting: As a substantive or structural editor, I help writers with the big picture. I read text, ask questions to ascertain the intent, and decide the best structure for the material. Fees are hourly or by the project. Time is calculated on the basis of the complexity of the document and the level of substantive editing, rearranging, and rewriting necessary to improve clarity, rhythm, and flow of ideas.
