Crucial Marketing Steps For New Authors

Crucial Marketing Steps For New Authors

If you’re a first-time author, there are important steps to marketing your book. Ignoring them would be the equivalent of throwing a party without inviting guests.

Here are a few steps to help you succeed.

1.  Create a Brand and a Website specifically designed for your book. It does not have to be an elaborate site but should include the following:

  • Your bio
  • Your photo
  • Excerpts from your book
  • A link to buy your book
  • A way to contact you
  • Links to find you on social media
  • A few reviews
  1. Compile an email list to keep in touch with people interested in your offers. I use      Mail Chimp, and there are others as well.

    3. Determine your audience and find out where they go to find out about new books.

    4. Reach out to reviewers.

    5. Finds resources for free announcements (local newspapers, online sources, etc.).

    6. Use social media, i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter – join specific groups interested in your topic and genre.

    7. Upload your book to Amazon and other on-line bookstores (or have someone do it for you).

    8. Design a Book Cover that draws attention

    9. Give copies away to local libraries.

You’ll find is a wealth of information for each step above on the Internet. Do your research. The time spent will be well worth it.

Whether you self-publish or go through a publishing house, as a first-time or unknown author you’ll need to do most of your own marketing if you want to get your book known to potential buyers.

Enjoy!
