Habits are harder to break than goals. Though goals can inspire us, habits find their way into the core of our being and become automatic.

Think about it. When we train an animal to perform a new trick, we have them repeat an activity until they get it. If we want them to break a bad habit, we train them by developing a new one. We do this with young children as well. Even though we may start out with a goal in mind, it’s the habitual behavior that creates the result.

Instead of setting a lofty goal by saying, “I want to finish my manuscript in six months or a year,” create a habit of writing for 30 minutes each day. And, make sure you remember to reward yourself!!!

Enjoy!
