Publishing Options – Pros & Cons

At some point in the writing process, often at the beginning, a client will ask, “Is it better to use a traditional publisher or self publish?” Besides the prestige that accompanies getting published by a traditional publishing house, the reason most authors want to go the traditional route is that they think that will alleviate them of the task of marketing their book.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there’s almost no way of having successful book sales without doing the bulk of the marketing yourself. The good news is, marketing your book is easier and more profitable today than ever before because of the Internet.

Amazon now has 54% of the book-buying market
according to an interview 1/14/2020 on NPR.

Besides the many advantages of self-publishing (Control overall creative and practical aspects of your book), the world-wide-web gives you coverage of the entire planet, should you choose to stretch your reach.

I came across this website that skillfully gives you an up-to-date detailed overview of the pros and cons. It is very informative and will answer most of your questions about publishing options.
