Where’s Your Stroke of Genius??? . . . . .

It’s in your happy place. Don’t believe me; try it out. When you’re stressed, anxious or rushed, try to write something good. Then, try sitting down, closing your eyes and thinking of something or someone you love. It can be a person, a place, a pet or a delicious edible, whatever lights you up. Then feel and see the difference.

Research shows that getting yourself into a happy, relaxed state is the key to creativity-on-command. The rush of dopamine that accompanies our feeling good shows up in our words on the page and makes writing seem effortless. That’s when we’re most apt to have those a-ha! moments.

There are plenty of ways to get into your happy place before you sit down to write. Whatever it takes to help you unclench and relax, do it!

Enjoy!
