Monday’s Muse – Writing Tip

Writing is like breathing. It is something most of us do every day. The difference when you plan on writing your book, blog or anything of substance, is that the critical mind is brought along for the ride. Like when you meditate you keep returning to the breath to be present, the same thing goes for writing. See the critique who says your writing is not good enough or you can’t do it and what meditators call the “Monkey Mind.” While writing, take your mind off the “critique” and back to the creative essence of your mind. You will most likely have to direct your attention back and then back again, over and over again. If you can see the humor in its persistence, you’re on your way. Remember, keep your mind on what you want to achieve instead of on the distracting monkey business.
