Read Your Work Out Loud.

There are many good tips for writing, but there is one tip for editing that stands out more than the rest. That is to READ YOUR WORK out loud before giving it to a beta reader or an editor. Doing so, you will find many of your own errors before submitting your work.

When you read out loud you not only see what you’ve written, but you hear it as well. The eye can easily pass over mistakes such as past and present tenses and the ear can easily pass over words with duplicate spellings such as manor or manner. Using both your eyes and ears assures a more accurate final copy. Your work will make a better impression on your beta reader and you’ll save money with your editor.

Enjoy!
