It’s easy to physically write like no one is watching. The next step is to write like nobody but you is reading it. We are usually our worst critic. If you like it, chances are others might as well. And if not, as the saying goes, “You can’t please everyone.”

Yes, it’s important to know your audience when writing for publication, but the way you write your content should please you. And remember, almost all good writing begins with throw-away first drafts. You need to start somewhere. Start by getting something, anything down on paper. That way you’ll have something to improve upon.
